Dayton Miami Valley AFL-CIO

A staff of two full-time Community Service Liaisons, plus a secretary at the Dayton United Way alleviate the suffering of union families from problems beyond the contract.  Union members are trained to become on-the-job union counselors providing each participating local union with a network of trained individuals to serve the local’s membership.  The AFL-CIO Labor Staff service members on layoff and operate the Labor Food Pantry, one of the first of its kind in the country.  The Labor CSL Staff also participates fully in United Way campaign activities.  An AFL-CIO CSL serves full time at the American Red Cross Dayton Chapter providing disaster assistance for union members.  The Red Cross Labor Director also involves union volunteers in community disaster response and training as well.
